Model/Actor Boma Akpore Shares Secrets of his Fitness Regime And Diet

Boma Akpore isn’t new to the scene, we have watched him maintain his physique for the past 17 years and counting.

How have you been able to maintain your physique over the years?

I have coincidentally chosen careers that require high-level discipline, from soccer to modeling, and now acting. We all know how running could be uncomfortable *laughs* so imagine chasing a ball for a long period of time, 22 men chasing a round object for about 95 mins with a 15-minute break in between, I’m sure we can all agree that you must be physically fit to be able to partake in such activity.

I also do love going to the gym, it’s a form of therapy. It helps me relax more than anything else.

What kind of exercises do you do?

I love doing cardio, I love sit-ups. No matter how defined your arms and chest is, if you don’t have abs, you would always look inferior to the man with abs, I learned that the hard way *chuckles*

What’s your diet like? Are you vegan?

I’m actually not vegan or vegetarian, but I do try to eat less meat lately. I prefer to fish. I do cheat for my African food though. I’m Nigerian so I love my fufu and egusi *laughs*. Am not very picky about what I eat, I just try to eat a balanced diet, but I could do a little better with my I need to vegetables *chuckles*.

A lot of people struggle with motivation when it comes to working out. How do you find time and motivation to exercise?

That’s a great question. I’ve always made working out a part of my schedule. It’s a must for me.

COVID really taught us that health is wealth. Until we start making our health and diet as a priority on a regular basis, as we never know what may come around. Our body is your temple, we must learn to treat it with respect.

What would you say are the benefits of staying in shape?

There’s a lot, but I will speak for myself. Being in shape has helped my career grow faster. We all know looks play a part in the roles you get…and lots of producers do typecast. A friend of mine once joked that he doesn’t want to be getting the” fat boy” role. I told him at least he was working and making money, he said “I want the kind of roles you get” *laughs*. That was funny. I have booked way more jobs than I should have because I look the part. Being and looking fit helped my self-confidence, it has put way more money in my pocket (not what you think *laughs*), I mean my physique has helped me book commercials playing basketball, soccer, football, baseball. I am beyond grateful.

Could you please tell us some of the brands you have modeled for?

I’ve done work for Dior, Nike, Adidas, Smirnoff Vodka, Volkswagen, Guinness, Heineken, Chase Bank, American Express, these are just what I can name off the top of my head.

Any Word of advice for your fans regarding fitness?

You are what you eat. Being in shape is 20% working out and 80% diet. Cardio is also very important for overall health and stamina. But if you’re in the entertainment industry, looking good is good the business so make sure you stay on point.
